How do botanists describe a flower precisely?
To a gardener, a flower is just pretty. To a botanist, every flower can be written down as a short code — how its parts are arranged, joined and counted — so that plants can be compared and identified anywhere.

How do racemose and cymose inflorescences differ, and how is a flower described by symmetry, ovary position and whorls?
In a racemose inflorescence the main axis keeps growing and flowers form on its sides, with the oldest at the base; in a cymose inflorescence the main axis ends in a flower, with the oldest at the top; and a flower is described by its symmetry, the position of its ovary and its four whorls.
